Upcoming WB “How To Clinics” sponsored by Lowe's

Lowe's, the 2010 underwriter for Habitat for Humanity International’s Women Build program, is offering a series of “How To” Clinics to teach women the practical know-how and skills involved in building a home.

On June 2, from 7p.m. to 9p.m., the Millsboro Lowes on Rt. 113 is offering the second in a series of “How To” clinics. The focus of this clinic is “Framing” and is the first step the participants in Women Build 2010 will take when the Laurel, DE Women Build house begins.

Lowe’s is not just teaching theory. The clinics are a chance to get some real hands-on practice. Absolutely no experience is necessary to sign up. In the process, participants will gain confidence. They will get more experience when they volunteer for the actual Women Build 2010.

Additional clinics will be held each Wednesday in June (6/9, 6/16, 6/23 and 6/30) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will include paint, insulation and drywall, exterior siding and roofing.

To sign up for the clinics or to learn more about Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program, interested volunteers should sign up at www.sussexcountyhabitat.org or contact Liz at 302-855-1153 extension 207. Advance registration is required for the Lowes clinics. Registered volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and bring a ready-to-learn attitude. No experience is necessary. All supplies will be provided on site.
