Sussex County Habitat for Humanity houses are sold with no profit made. Homeowners contribute "sweat equity" and house payments are recycled to build additional houses.

Concord Village

Concord Village is Sussex County's first Habitat for Humanity Subdivision

Concord Village Site Plan

Background
The need for affordable housing in our county is tremendous, and the number of people living in unsafe, unhealthy and overcrowded conditions is staggering.  According to the State Housing Authority, over 4,300 Sussex County families live in substandard conditions.
In response to this growing need for low-income housing and skyrocketing property values, Sussex County Habitat for Humanity (SCHFH) decided it could have a bigger impact by building multiple homes at one location.  In 2004, SCHFH acquired land near Seaford with the vision to build a community.  This property will eventually be home to 19 families.

Vision
A thriving community of 19 families who are empowered by all the volunteers and donors they meet through Habitat’s program while building their community.  Habitat also sees a movement of people, churches, businesses and organizations from throughout the county coming together to finance and build with these families who need simple, decent and affordable homes to call their own.

Nineteen families now call Concord Village home.
