How old do I have to be to volunteer at the ReStore?

Volunteers must be 16 to volunteer at the Sussex County ReStore. They must fill in a minor waiver form before volunteering, and volunteers 18 and over must fill out a regular waiver form.

What kind of work will I do at ReStore as a volunteer?

Volunteer work includes:

  • Cleaning the store
  • Donation pick-up and drop-off
  • Loading purchased items for customers: 
  • Preparing donations for display
  • Pricing items
  • Stocking Shelves
  • Other various tasks

What should I wear while volunteering at ReStore?

Wear clothing you can get dirty, including sturdy boots or closed-in shoes. Shorts of appropriate length and material are acceptable as well. Gloves will be available for your use.

Will I be served lunch at ReStore while volunteering?

Volunteers are responsible for their own lunch.  There is a volunteer fridge for you to store your lunch, and many local businesses deliver to the ReStore.

What should I do with my personal items?

We suggest you lock your belongings in your trunk prior to coming into the ReStore.

Can I just show up and begin my work?

You have to register as a volunteer here first.  Please schedule your volunteer day with the ReStore in advance. Upon arriving at the ReStore the first time, every volunteer will receive an orientation to become familiar with Habitat and the ReStore.

Where should I park?

You can park in the enclosed parking area attached to the side of the ReStore. 

Can volunteers work at the store every day?

Volunteers are needed at the ReStore Tuesday - Friday 10 am - 5 pm and Saturday 8 am to 3 pm. If there is any question about whether the ReStore is open (inclement weather, etc.) please call ReStore at 302-855-1156.
