ReStore Donation Guidelines

Due to limited showroom size and marketability, the Habitat ReStores only accept the following new and gently used residential items that re-sell quickly. If you have questions don't hesitate to contact us at 302-855-1156 or restore@sussexcountyhabitat.org.

Air Conditioning

  • Less than 5 years old (No R-22)

  • Working condition, no missing pieces, no repairs needed

  • Whole house, window, and split units

Appliances

  • Less than 5 years old (No R-22)

  • Working condition, no missing pieces, no repairs needed

  • Whole house, window, and split units

  • No replacement parts needed

  • No major rust, damage, dent, or missing parts

Cabinets (kitchen and bathroom)

  • No water damage, incomplete, or peeling

  • Must have drawers and doors attached

Rugs

  • New or only lived on once

  • Clean (no pet, bodily fluids, or food stains)

Ceiling fans

  • Working condition with all instalation parts

Closet Shelving

  • Clean and complete pieces

  • Wire shelving (4ft or longer)

  • Wood shelving (4ft or longer)

Hurricane panels, shutters, plantation shutters

Televisions and electronics

  • New or less than 5 years old

  • Flat screen TV in working condition

  • No tube or projection

  • Undamaged electronics in working condition

Plumbing

  • Kitchen and utility sinks

  • Toilets, low flow 1.6 gallon flush or less (white, off-white, black ONLY)

  • Bath tubs, operational and complete (no scratches or broken pieces)

  • Faucets, no older than 2010

  • Bathroom vanities with top

  • Pedestal sinks

Roofing materials/gutters

Tools (hand and powered)

  • Complete with all cords and/or batteries

  • No major Rust

  • no gas powered

Windows

  • Double pane or impact only

  • Vinyl and aluminum

Doors

  • Shower doors with tracks (no frameless doors)

  • Interior & exterior (nothing taller than 84")

  • Panel, louvred, closet, glass, bi-fold, flat, etc. (No mirrored interior doors)

  • No water damage, peeling, or split doors

  • Sliding glass must be double pane or impact with tracks (No single pane)

Electrical

  • No fluorescent, incandescent, or halogen bulbs and fixtures

  • LED Only

  • Lighting fixtures, lamps, parts, and supplies (working with all parts)

Flooring Materials

  • Ceramic, vinyl, porcelain, laminate, or wood

  • New only

  • No less than 50 square feet, Sussex County only

  • Most be boxed, bound, or on pallet for pickups

Furniture

  • From a smoke free home

  • Home or antique

  • Office (no large desks, cubicles, or partitions)

  • Outdoor furniture

  • Must be clean

  • No worn, torn, ripped, holed, or stained upholstery

  • No sleeper sofas or mattresses/box springs

  • Even furniture which meets the above criteria may be rejected because of limited space

Hardware

  • Knobs, hinges, locks (complete lockset)

  • No incomplete or rusted door knobs

  • Nails, screws, nuts, bolts, fasteners - sorted, bagged, or boxed and in quantity

Home Goods

  • No broken or incomplete pieces

  • Paintings and prints

  • Countertop appliances

  • All small items must be boxed for pickups

Items we currently do not accept

  • Any item which is broken or incomplete

  • Clothes, linens, bedding, and drapes

  • Box springs and mattresses

  • Baby items

  • Organs or pianos

  • Fluorescent Light Fixtures

  • Fluorescent, incandescent or halogen light bulbs

  • TVs older than 5 years

  • Tube TVs

  • Ripped, worn, or stained upholstered furnitre

  • Water damaged/delaminating doors, cabinets, and furniture

  • Unframed glass / mirror

  • Paint and household chemicals

  • Lumber

  • Jacuzzi tubs

  • Doors taller than 84"

  • Jalousie windows/doors

  • Used vertical and mini blonds

  • Wall to wall carpeting

  • Area rugs with pet stains or smells

  • Office desks/cubicles/partitions/printers/fax/copiers

  • Dishwashers and hot water heaters (mfg. before 2015)

  • Waterbeds

  • Appliances from before 2010

  • Wall ovens

  • Granite, marble, or quartz countertops
